Arlington Temple UMC
703-525-6075
1835 N Nash St Arlington VA
True to our vision of being both a church and community center, Arlington Temple’s doors are open during business hours during the week. People come in these doors for lots of different reasons: to stop and pray during a break from work, to attend an AA meeting, or to get something to eat from our Fellowship Hall food basket.
The food in our food basket is supplied by a local organization and by food donations from church and community members. We are always in need of items that can be easily microwaved if necessary and eaten here, since many of our neighbors who partake don’t have their own home or kitchen: hearty soups, canned ravioli or spaghetti-os, instant mac and cheese, ramen noodles, cans of tuna, etc. For canned food, pull-tab lids are preferable. Remember us the next time you go shopping, or arrange a food drive at your school or workplace.
We offer multiple ways to serve our community and world together throughout the year. Each fifth Sunday of a month, we gather in the Fellowship Hall after worship for Fifth Sunday Service, where we might pack bag lunches for the nearby Arlington County Homeless Services Center, bag produce for the Arlington Food Assistance Center, put together backpacks with school supplies for local students living in affordable housing, or build health kits for refugees through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Each December, we buy and wrap Christmas gifts for our unhoused community members so that they can face the winter with a new coat, sleeping bag, or whatever else might be on their list.
Our Arlington Temple Outreach team meets monthly on Tuesday evenings (dates TBD) and is always exploring and planning new ways for us to engage with and serve our surrounding Rosslyn community – come join the conversation!

HILDEGARDE’S FOOD PANTRY
Hildegarde’s Pantry is a ministry of the Cathedral Church of St. Mark and began in the kitchen of the Cathedral in the early 80s and then moved to the old parish hall. For five years the pantry was housed at the Jubilee Center on the corner of 200 E. 100 South until the new, expanded pantry facility was completed in 2006 on the grounds of the Cathedral. With the additional space and commercial freezers and refrigerators donated by the LDS Church Foundation, the pantry was one of the first in the state to move to a complete “choice” approach; visitors to the pantry indicate their choices for all food and personal care items from the shelves. We believe this promotes the dignity of all our guests.
Hildegarde’s has been feeding the hungry since the 1980s.
Hildegarde’s has been feeding the hungry since the 1980s.
The Pantry enjoys a rich history of Christian service that is reflected in its work and even its name. The Pantry is named after two women, both named Hildegarde, who were examples of such service. The first was St. Hildegarde of Bingen, a Medieval German healer, mystic, musician and theologian whom the original Pantry was named for. Then over 800 years later, the second was Hildegarde “Hilly” Pischel, a beloved parishioner of the Cathedral Church of St. Mark, who left an endowment for the pantry. In honor of Hilly and “e” was added to the name Hildegarde.
VOLUNTEERING
delivery-517x388.jpg
Volunteers are gladly welcome to participate in light work (stocking shelves, unloading boxes, sorting), data entry (very simple, one screen) and heavier work (unloading trucks, moving boxes).
The Pantry serves around 2000 households a month. Sometimes we serve many many more. We partner with local organizations like Utah Food Bank, Welfare Square, and Grocery Rescue to bring thousands of pounds of food to Utah residents in need each year.
We believe in taking the Church to the world in providing a vital outreach ministry. We also invite the world to St. Mark’s Cathedral by promoting a greater awareness of the needs of Utah residents who are without adequate food. Parishioners and community members volunteer thousands of hours and donate food items, personal care items, and fresh produce throughout the year as well as provide financial support to people in need.
HOW WE SPEND OUR FUNDING
The Pantry Director salary and a portion of the salary for the Deacon of St. Mark’s Cathedral are paid from the Hildegarde’s Pantry restricted accounts (monies donated specifically for the pantry). These positions play a critical role in organizing our ministry’s efforts to care for those in need.
In addition, funds are used for special food items, such as holiday foods (chickens and turkey hams), miscellaneous pantry supplies, gas for volunteer delivery five times per week, lunch one time per week for Monday volunteers who are at the pantry an average of 5 hours unloading trucks, breaking down pallets, stocking shelves, and refrigerator and freezer and cleanings.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The pantry is currently only open for customers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from
11:00-1:30 and Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m.
We reserve the right to close the pantry earlier than the posted time if the lobby is full at the posted closing time. Processing and serving those people may take volunteers and staff an extra 30-45 minutes.
FOOD BOX SIGN-UP
We are now offering a new option for families that would like to pick up a pre-made box of food, rather than wait in line at the pantry. If you would like to sign up for a food box, click on the button below to fill out the form. Note that food box pick-up is limited to twice a month, just like in-person visits.
SIGN UP FOR YOUR FOOD BOX!
After you have signed up for your box using the linked form, come to the WEST doors of the pantry on your chosen day for pick-up. Only one family member needs to come to pick up the food, but ID must be provided for every family member included in the order. For example, if you sign up for a family of 6, you will need 6 IDs.
DELIVERIES
Deliveries are made on Monday and where volunteers clean, unload, sort and stock the pantry. We are not open to the public this day.
HOLIDAY SEASON
NOVEMBER & DECEMBER
Holiday food in November and December requires pre-registration. Dates vary by year. These dates and all holiday closures are posted at the beginning of each month at the pantry.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PATRONS
Guests of the Food Pantry must meet the following requirements.
Only 2 visits per household per month;
Identification is required for all household members on every visit (copies are OK)
Adult identification: must be a current picture ID (does not have to be from Utah)
Children under 17: identification may be Social Security Card, Medicaid card, passport, school ID or any other document showing relationship to parent(s). Does not have to have a picture.
In an effort to promote good stewardship of the environment, visitors are given an “extra choice” item if they bring in a reusable bag. We believe in caring for people and the Earth.

The Food Pantry partners with the Central Texas Food Bank and receives donations and support from faith communities, schools, businesses and individuals throughout the Austin area. During this time of social distancing the pantry service has been changed to a drive through model with no personal contact between volunteers and clients. This year an average of 77 families with over 350 family members have been served each week. Most of the families are working hard to meet the basic cost of living in this difficult time. The Food Pantry often helps people to stretch their supplies just enough to help them get through the month on very limited incomes.

AGAPE MEAL
Since 1995, Broadway’s neighborhood Agape Meal has provided worship and fellowship at a family-style meal for homeless neighbors, church members, and community volunteers. This meal isn’t just about feeding the hungry – it’s about creating time and space for us to build relationships that celebrate the gifts of all of our neighbors. Each week, the Agape Meal serves about 100 guests.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we have temporarily suspended the worship service and sharing the meal together around the table. Guests are still welcomed each week and receive hot, to-go meals every Thursday night from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

SOUP KITCHEN AT ST JOHN'S
DSC 0222
St. John’s Soup Kitchen provides vital nutrition for people who are homeless, precariously housed, just passing through town, or part of the growing numbers of the working poor. Twice each week, the Midtown/Downtown community is invited to break bread at St. John’s and share from God’s bounty, where there is more than enough to go around. Rhodes College students, as ambassadors of the servant leadership model of their institution, prepare and serve food on Tuesday afternoons, while Saturday afternoons from 3:30-5:30 belong to St. John’s members, various Memphis-area churches, and community groups.
As a means of grace for our community, St. John’s Soup Kitchen food is served to whoever comes, without questions or prerequisites. For hundreds of guests each week, it’s the answer to a prayer for daily bread served in an environment where hospitality is the gospel and safety is the rule.
Groups have already been scheduled for cooking and serving the meals during each week of the year, but there are a number of ways you or your group can help us make our Saturday evening meal a warm, loving, and hospitable experience for St. John's soup kitchen guests. Please consider the opportunities below and contact Annie for more information.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
DSC 0228
Fresh fruit as a take-away: There's never a soup kitchen meal that couldn't be enhanced by the offering of an apple, banana, or orange for guests to take with them as they depart. 125 pieces are recommended, and donors are welcome to either drop of their donation at 3:30 pm on a Saturday, or plan to hand them out as guests depart the soup kitchen.
Dessert: Who doesn't love cookies and brownies? Typical soup kitchen meals do not include dessert, but if you or your group wish to bake cookies, brownies, cupcakes or something else, it would be greatly appreciated by our guests. 125 pieces recommended.
Hygiene Packs: Your group can assemble hygiene packs to distribute to guests, or purchase pre-assembled hygiene bags for $1 each from St. John's to distribute.
Contribute Financially: Donate to our soup kitchen through our online giving page.

There are many children in our community that receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program.
For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend?
CCNE is partnering with the Richland 2 School District and Spring Valley High School to identify these kids in our area and get them the food they need for the weekend.
How does it work?
We collect non perishable food, pack them in bags, bring them to the schools of Fridays, and the social workers discretely make them available for students to pick up.

food Pantry and Thanksgiving Baskets
Every Saturday from 1-2 pm neighbors in need can come receive groceries at the Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is a ministry of Harvest Hope Church, who share our buildings. Customers should bring photo ID. No other paperwork is required.
Every fall the students of Winters School and the parishioners of Harvest Hope and Good Shepherd collect canned goods to fill Thanksgiving Baskets. The parishioners of Harvest Hope pack and distribute the bags of food, and Good Shepherd contributes gift cards for perishables. Each year we give out over 60 baskets. Call the church office in November if you know of someone in need of some extra food to fill their Thanksgiving table.

Food Bank
We are one of the sites of the Marion-Polk Food Share. Volunteers from our church receive food and then distribute it to the community every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 9-11am. We give out food to feed 150 to 200 people each month.
Opportunities to volunteer include helping people sign in, stocking shelves and preparing food bags.
Neighborhood BBQ and Classic Car Show
Every summer our church enjoys sharing a free BBQ in the parking lot for our community. There is music, activities for kids, good food, and a classic car show. Many from the greater Salem area enter their cars into the show and those in attendance vote on their favorite!
Child Evangelism Fellowship
We support both the Polk County and Capital City Chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). CEF reaches kids in our community through 5-Day Clubs in the summer and after-school Good News Clubs during the school year. Our members are involved with these clubs in both Polk and Marion counties.
CEF can always bring more people onto their team to help serve. Many service commitments are just two hours each week. For further questions regarding CEF, contact the church or CEF office (503-364-6499).
Vacation Bible School
Each summer Kingwood offers a Vacation Bible School for kids in our community. The children have a great time learning about a God who loves them and wants to know them. Each night has a separate focus building on the theme of the week. The program includes singing with hand motions, games, a story time, snacks, a short cartoon clip, and science projects.
There are many opportunities including preparing snacks, leading a group leader, telling stories through drama, helping with games, taking pictures, and more!
Prayer Team
There is a team at Kingwood that prays for our members, visitors, and community. They meet monthly, but pray daily. They perform a vital function lifting up needs and concerns before our great God. They have seen many answers to prayer. God does heal miraculously just like he did when Jesus walked on Earth. There is nothing that is too great for our God!
The Prayer Team is open to people dedicated to the Kingwood family.

Food Assistance
Bethesda Food Pantry
We opened our doors for Food for Lane County in April 2010 for twice monthly distribution of food and other basic necessities. We primarily staff distribution with our own volunteers, but are happy to welcome volunteers from outside Bethesda. The number of family members served has grown from 52 the first month to 556 in March 2012. This reflects the unfortunate reality of our local economy and reaffirms the great need for faith to express itself in loving service.
The following items are very beneficial to our clients, but are scarcely available from Food for Lane County:
Tomato Sauce
Spaghetti Sauce
Tuna Fish
Canola Oil
Toilet Paper
Toothpaste
Shampoo
Bonus: Cat & Dog food
Donations can be brought during church office hours in containers convenient for transferring to the appropriate storage location.

Hunger affects people of all ages, especially our community's senior citizens -- many of whom are living on fixed incomes. Without help, many older adults are forced to choose between heating their homes, purchasing much needed prescriptions, and putting food on the table. We try to help by meeting the nutritional, emotional, and spiritual needs of families through food and personal care items.

MEALS ON WHEELS
Each Tuesday morning a loyal group meets at the building to prepare a meal that will be delivered to people all across our community. It is a program that involves a great deal of effort and produces a lot of goodwill. The volunteers look forward to their deliveries but not as much as the recipients. It is a chance to have interaction with a caring person. Often it is the most important event in an elderly person’s day. Jesus knew the importance of meeting physical needs, and as our wonderful volunteers go about their tasks they carry the loving concern of the Master. Envision how God can use you as a “Point of Light” in this great ministry.

FAITH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
(701) 232-6844
909 19TH AVE. N., FARGO ND 58102
Every first and third Friday of the month, volunteers from Fargo Faith and other area churches come together to provide groceries for needy families in the Fargo-Moorhead area. On a typical Friday, the Fargo Faith Food Ministry will serve anywhere between 100-150 people.
The mission of the Fargo Faith Food Ministry is to help the less fortunate by distributing food to lessen their financial burden of a grocery bill.
Faith Food Ministry is funded by food or cash donations, grants, Fill the Dome food and the Great Plains Food Bank.
FOR CLIENTS:
Any person who is need of food to feed themselves or their families and cannot afford to do so are invited to receive food from the Faith Food Ministry. We distribute food on the first and third Fridays of each month from 1:30-3 p.m. All that we require is a photo ID. If you have not received food from us in 2020, you will also need to fill out a short form to receive food. This form is to verify your identity and the size of your family. Other than this form, no referrals are required and we will never ask any questions about your situation- all those who are in need of food are welcome. Clients are welcome to receive food both Fridays in the month if necessary.
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have adjusted our distribution procedures:
We ask that clients drive into our parking lot entering from the west entrance off of 10th Street.
NOTE THAT THE PARKING LOT DOES NOT OPEN UNTIL 1:00 P.M.
Traffic Control volunteers will direct you in the parking lot.
Vehicles will be moved through the parking lot towards the distribution point by Traffic Control. At the distribution point, you will then be directed by a Food Pantry representative to exit your vehicle to go to the front entrance to register and receive your carts of groceries.
YOU MUST BE WEARING A MASK IN ORDER TO REGISTER AND RECEIVE YOUR FOOD.
You will then take your carts of food to your vehicle and load your vehicle. Once you complete that, you will return the cart(s) to be sanitized for the next clients.
FOR VOLUNTEERS:
We are always in need of servants to help out on these Fridays! We look for help with setup and stocking in the morning, help serving the food in the afternoon (we serve the community from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.), and help tearing down and cleaning up after the serving is complete. Just come on over and help or CONTACT US for more information.
Please contact the church at (701) 232-6844 with any questions that you have!

As part of our offering every Sunday, St. Luke’s collects non-perishable food items for the food pantry at St. Clement’s. Volunteers are always needed by St. Clements, located at at 423 W 46th Street, to pack food on Thursdays (5:30pm-8:30pm) and to help distribute food on alternating Fridays (9am-11am). For more information, email info@stlukeinthefields.org.

Beloved Community Food Pantry/Comunidad Amada Despensa de Alimentos, is now officially open as a bilingual food pantry for the residents of Southside Winston-Salem and beyond. We are a partner agency with Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, which allows us to provide ample nutritious food for the community. In honoring our goal to respect the dignity of every human being, we offer client choice- meaning that our clients choose their food, rather than we select it for them.
In the time before the food pantry opens, we offer hospitality: coffee, snacks, and the opportunity to create community with one another.
Please see the flyer below for our upcoming days and times.

We are active in every zip code in America to feed, shelter, assist and equip the poor.
Poverty is so often the result of - and the catalyst for - chronic struggles with hunger, addiction, housing insecurity, mental illness, unemployment, educational voids and various forms of abuse. These interconnected struggles continue year after year, and often span generations. That's why The Salvation Army works to meet the needs of the whole person through short and long-term assistance - first alleviating the symptoms of poverty and then addressing the root issues that cause it.

Emmanuel Advent Christian Church

We are pleased to have Emmanuel Child Care Center as one of the essential ministries of Emmanuel Church. Click here to learn more!
Children who love Jesus aren’t just the church of tomorrow, they’re a valuable part of the church of today! Our aim is to come alongside parents, grandparents, and caregivers alike to support and encourage you as you shepherd your child’s heart for the Lord. We welcome your children into the worship service, and want to provide opportunity for them to be involved in the worship as part of the church family. Click Here to see how we do this on a weekly basis. We also hold a one-week VBS in the summer, and schedule events for the whole family throughout the year.
Women’s ministry at Emmanuel Church has many opportunities to serve, grow and encourage one another in our faith. Monthly prayer breakfasts, fellowship times, and our annual Ladies Christmas Tea are just some of the ways that we put that into practice. We invite you to become involved with Women’s Ministry at Emmanuel! Be sure to check out our calendar for upcoming events.
The Men’s ministry of Emmanuel Church seeks to develop strong men of God. Our desire is to bring men of all walks of life together to share friendship and spiritual growth so they may help to transform their families, church and community. We accomplish this by meeting regularly at monthly men’s breakfasts, in homes for accountability and study, and at events like Iron Sharpens Iron. Be sure to check out the calendar for upcoming events.
Some of the ways that we reach out to our community is through an Acts of Kindness ministry (making items to be given out to people in need), community suppers, and our food pantry. Each of these “acts of kindness” are for those in our community who may need a kind word or a kind smile. We expect nothing in return. We seek to do good as Jesus did (Acts 10:38). Be sure to check out the calendar for upcoming events!
We seek to fulfill the Great Commission globally by following the leading of the Holy Spirit and by linking up with these partners:
Advent Christian General Conference
Missionary Air Group
Missions Door
Keys Ministries
New Tribes Missions
Operation Christmas Child
Prayer is an important aspect of all that we do here in the Emmanuel Family. Even before we gather on Sunday mornings, our Prayer Partners are praying for every aspect of the service and all those involved. It is a unique privilege to lift our requests to the Lord. Please reach out if you have a specific prayer request.

Our members cooked for these people and gave them comfort in any way they could. As months and years went by people never stopped coming. The Soup Kitchen is not just for People to come and get some food in there belly. This was now a place they came to talk among the community and learn about more information regarding the issues with Superstorm Sandy, what is going on around our town and for the homeless to come and get a bite to eat.

Whom Do We Serve?
Some of the visitors to the Pantry are currently homeless. Some just can't make ends meet in this economy. Some are recently unemployed. Some just can't find jobs. Some are on fixed incomes. Some are refugees who have come to this country with nothing but the hope of a better tomorrow.
In short, we serve our neighbors.
